The first picture is in the garden of that little shrine in Matsue I wrote about; I suspect it’s some sort of hibiscus. The second is a good old-fashioned Morning Glory winding its way up the railing of our front steps.
Many photographers avoid direct sunlight on their subjects, but I prefer it.
