If this series brings one or two of you one or two really hot rock-n-roll tunes you never know existed, then I can go home happy. Maybe this is one: I’m Not Afraid is by Fleming and John, a husband-and-wife tune who have never been big stars or anything like that, but should go down in history for this song.

It’s fast, it’s electric, it’s melodic, and the words run through your head in a fun way. Also, it’s an important question: What are you afraid of, and not afraid of? The answer, in this case, is heart-warming, but you’ll have to listen to the tune to hear it.

Fleming and John

No, I don’t know any more. I don’t know how I discovered this. I don’t know when. Great rock & roll doesn’t need a time or a reason, and that’s what this is. In particular, the voice. And the drums. And the guitar. What a cool sound.

This is part of the Song of the Day series (background).
