Friday Slide Scan #7 is from whenever Chinese New Year was in 1984, in Vancouver’s Old Chinatown. It is egregiously PhotoShopped.

Chinese New Year Celebrations, Vancouver, 1945

I have a million shots from this day and they all fail to be quite good enough, but I got into heavier and heavier and heavier PhotoShop tinkering and ended up with something I quite liked.

If you’ve never been to a Chinese New Year celebration you should sometime; they’re good fun, with the lion dancers and the fireworks and the drums and so on; and the colours of course.

Images in the Friday Slide Scans are from 35mm slides taken between 1955 and 2003 by (in rough chronological order) Bill Bray, Tim Bray, Cath Bray, and Lauren Wood; when I know exactly who took one, I’ll say. Most but not all of the slides were on Kodachrome; they were digitized using a Nikon CoolScan 4000 ED scanner and cleaned up by a combination of the Nikon scanning software and PhotoShop Elements.
