Remarkably few people seem to know of the ongoing (so to speak) online travelogue by Dervala Hanley; the quality of the writing is frequently out there in Bruce Chatwin territory, which is kind of like saying a jazz musician is out there in Miles Davis territory. She is funny more often than Chatwin was.

Dervala is on the rebound from New York but originally from Limerick, Ireland. Light research fails to reveal any English word meaning "native of Limerick", but I wouldn't be surprised if there some entirely unpronounceable version in the native Irish.

Her existing body of online work is getting to the point where it would make a nice little volume on the travel-lit/memoir shelf and she's pretty prolific, if there are any publishers reading this they might want to make her an offer.
