This is a two-song medley, This Beat Goes On and Switchin’ to Glide, by Canadian rockers The Kings. Most people couldn’t pick them out of a line-up, but a whole lot will have heard this song on the radio at some point or another.

The Kings

This is pure pop/rock fluff, not trying to do anything but entertain you with a cheery tune and a jangly guitar. I think the world just can’t possibly have enough of this sort of thing. The lyrics are notable for rhyming “wanna” and “Toronto”, and for Nothing matters but the weekend / from a Tuesday point of view.

This is part of the Song of the Day series (background).
