What happened was, I visited Vancouver’s Mountain View Cemetery, my 7-year-old daughter in tow. It was wet and grey. She was bored so I gave her a camera.

I’m not gonna claim she’s a budding genius photographer; just that a kid with a pretty good camera and no preconceptions can surprise you.

Of course, anyone knows you can make good pictures of flowers.

And they can’t see any reason not to take extreme-wide-angle shots of an evergreen they’re standing in front of.

She asked “Why is there an envelope there, Daddy?” I told her it was probably a message for John, Irene, Helena, Lois, or Margaruite, but she didn’t really understand.
