I wrote about hiking across hard lava to poke a stick into hot lava, and the pictures were groovy, but I had more than I could squeeze in there, so here are the rest that are worthwhile. Those who don’t sympathize with my Hawaii Problem (the urge to force recent-vacation pictures down the world’s throat) will be happy to hear that there are only a couple more instalments after today.

Here are the pictures. I really have nothing to add to what I wrote before. Well, once again: Go see this if you get a chance.

This last picture is blurry and less dramatic, but gives a human-scale feel for the size and shape of a reasonably-typical live lava flow.

I stumbled on your HP after stumbling on your comments about hacking Glass. But I was much more interested in the fact that you got out on the lava.

I've wanted to do that and always chickened out, thinking how painful falling through might be. Did you know you wouldn't fall through? Or did you just take the risk?
