Tokyo is one of the most glamorous and intense places in the world. I’ve photographed it a lot, and my pictures tend to reflect that. But on returning from my most recent trip, along with the usual stuff, there were some distinctly unglamorous photos. Not that good; but I thought they told interesting stories.

A building being demolished from inside. Look close and see the guy standing on the edge with the hose.

Somewhere in Roppongi. The slogan was “Thunder From the East”; and see the lady taking care of her face in the next window.

To see pretty "different" although the most true Tokyo i would recommend you to visit Shitamachi town (although not Asakusa), which is Tokyo eastern part, near the border with Chiba prefecture. It is huge and very different part of city but experience of being there is worth to understand what Tokyo is.

Btw., The second photo - is not it Ebisu station? Very glamourous station by itself :)
