In this universe, life in general constitutes a losing battle against entropy, with intelligence perhaps our best tactical asset in that struggle. Recently we launched a domestic counter-offensive; herewith some battlefield reportage.

Books being organized

One of entropy’s allies, at our house anyhow, is a lifelong shared tendency to read obsessively and buy books and attach to their material aspect in a most un-Buddhist manner. We’re already dedicating a whole sort-of-room-thingie to them and yet the tide was rising alarmingly. So we found a carpenter and got built-in book-cases. Of course we had to take all the books off the existing cases and put them in boxes while construction went on. Thus the current challenge—putting them all back. That was 24 hours ago. It looks much better now. Hey Entropy, IN YO FACE!
